Frequently Asked Questions

Form follows function.

That adage, derived from the world of architecture, is equally compelling when you are thinking of buying new furniture. Here are some examples of how it might affect you.

Beds for a guest bedroom - are you more likely to have guests using that room who are couples or singles, adults or children. Queen or king beds are appropriate for couples or very young children. Otherwise, twin beds are a better choice. (Two twins can always be pushed together for a king).

Window treatments serve several functions besides the beauty they add to your room. Your need for privacy, insulation from both cold and heat, enjoying a view out the window all are factors in your decision.

Upholstery for your living areas is of course a significant factor in obtaining the look you want for your room. But also consider comfort - and more importantly whose definition of comfort. If one individual is to use that chair or sofa regularly and other are not, than that persons definition of comfort is more important.

Do you offer delivery and installation?
We offer free delivery and set up within our selling area. And for vacation homeowners, we are happy to deliver new furniture to your permanent residence for a modest charge. If you are flexible when you need the delivery, we frequently band two or more deliveries down country and prorate the delivery charge.
I am building a new house (or adding a new room) and I am baffled about how to select the right furniture?
Our design staff is trained to help you lay out furniture to scale in a blueprint or drawing. If you don't have a blueprint, just bring us the dimensions of the room, and we will draw it to scale for you and help you determine the best size and arrangement of furniture for that room.

Don't wait until the room is finished to shop for furniture. The earlier you ask for help to lay out the furniture in your future rooms the better. Furniture layout often dictates such things as location of electrical outlets (do you need a floor outlet?); location of TV; location of doors and how that will affect traffic patterns through or into a room; raised hearth or flush hearth and how that will impact the room.
What do you do with old furniture you remove when you deliver my new furniture?
The majority of the furniture we remove is donated to a local charity called Twice Blessed, which runs a used clothing and furniture store in Wilmington. Mary Jane Finnegan, its founder, and her staff of volunteers raise funds for families in need in our area not only by selling used items, but also by donating items directly.
